MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After a steamy temperatures during the day on Sunday, strong winds and heavy rain rolled through Minnesota later in the afternoon.
Severe thunderstorm warnings and watches were issued throughout the day, including a few short-lived tornado warnings. As of 11 p.m. Sunday, only a few watches remain.
Xcel Energy says nearly 17,000 people are without power.
We’ve had numerous reports of thick trees — some as wide as 12 to 18-inches in diameter — snapping in the wind.
